    With more than 340 physicians on staff, DCH Regional is a 583-bed hospital, fully equipped with a state of the art cancer center, cardiology dept. with new cath lab, abilities for robotic surgeries, and the region's most advanced trauma center.

    Annual exams are important and with the ever-changing healthcare system, it is vital to stay current with pap smears, mammograms, and other maintenance exams. Most recently, guidelines have changed on how often you should get a pap smear and mammogram. Please check with me to see if you are current with your exams.
    My practice now offers full prenatal care, delivery as well as childcare.

    My primary goal is to keep you healthy through every step in your walk through life, so that you can spend the most time doing things that matter. Come talk with me if you have questions about your mental or physical health. As a family physician, my specialty is treating you and your family from the common cold to guidance through end of life issues.

    Children's Health

    Your child is very important to me. Regular physical exams and staying up to date with their vaccination schedule are the most important preventative agents you can arm your children with. The media displays a poor image of vaccines, please come talk with me about any concerns you may have about vaccinating your child.

    Research & Interests

    As a physician, it is important to stay up to date with healthcare and help it evolve to better your life as my patient. My interests, as stated, are in pediatrics, women's health and medical information technologies. I most recently have taken on a project in the women's health division at the University of Alabama, though have several past projects, a few of which will be named here.





    1. Centering Pregnancy

    My newest project is working with physicians at University of Alabama and Cahaba Medical Center, Centerville Al, to further support prenatal group visits and document their importance among youth pregnancies & low-socioeconomic regions. Several articles have supported its necessity in decreasing prematurity, low birth weights, post-partum depression, among other benefits. Alabama is one of the last states to implement this Centering model, and my hope is to faciliate this.

    2. Information Technologies in Medicine

    My initial goal was to prove that iPads will increase the efficiency of the physicians in our practice. What I have found thus far, is that the iPad is user specific and dependent on your preference of using a mouse vs. touch screen, but overall has increased my speed in the clinic. The overall thoughts from my patients are positive as they can easily view their labs.

    3. Websites for Physicians

    This is a project that I felt was to benefit the facilitation of communication between patient and physician. I looked at how many physicians in rural areas of Alabama had websites and updated them regularly then how many of their patients enjoyed or disliked using them. With limited data, as I found that many physicians don't have a website in Alabama, the data was skewed, though many of patients did comment that they enjoyed online access to their physician.
